Just smile quietly.A pastor decided to try something a little different one Sunday morning. He said, “Today, I’m going to say a single word and you will help me preach! Whatever single word I say, simply sing out whatever hymn comes to mind”He called out, “Cross!” Immediately the congregation started singing, “The Old Rugged Cross.”He called out, “Grace!” The congregation started singing “Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound.”He called out, “Power!” They sang, “There is Power in the Blood.”He said, “Sex!” they were in shock. In total silence, the members glanced around nervously, afraid to say anything for fear of immediate ridicule as well as long range embarrassment. Finally, from near the back of the church, a little, old 87-year old grandma stood up and began singing softly, “Precious Memories.”
