In my opinion, masturbation is not just a means to physical pleasure. It is also a form of "performance art." If you were to ask the "average person on the street" what they considered an example of "art" where the human form is concerned, many might respond with,"ballet." True enough. Ballet requires flexibility, dedication, years of practice, and it does display the human body in a beautiful and graceful way. If you asked for an example of "art" in the form of a still image, many might say,"the Mona Lisa." But I seriously doubt that the "average person" would openly admit that one of the most beautiful displays a person can make is via masturbation. Whether video or still image, the act of masturbation is about as close as most people will ever get to a truly transcendental experience. What could be more beautiful than a person experiencing an orgasm or hovering around the Edge of orgasm? I love to peruse a wide variety of erotic imagery - in general and when I'm masturbating - but the images I find most arousing are those of people pleasuring themselves. I think the only thing more sexually exciting and energizing than my own private solo sessions are those I share with my wife. When we "do it" together, we are able to not only be aroused by watching one another, but we "feed off" each other's energy, like two musicians improvising together. And like any other performance art - like music - "practice makes perfect." Anyone who's been playing a musical instrument for a long time can testify to how one progresses from a mere novice to a virtuoso. Same with masturbation. I can truly say that I play music with the same passion and creativity that I masturbate. And vice versa. I trust there are others reading this who will agree.
