This story took place before Ole's illness when Ole and Lena were still both enjoying having lots of sex.Ole and Lena had so many children they did not want any more. So they went to see the doctor about how to stop having children. Now this was in the days before tubal ligations for men or women and the doctor did not want Lena to have to go through a hysterectomy, so he told Ole, "I think that if you sleep in the barn, that will cure the problem." Lena was so excited by the prospect of not having any more children, she cheerfully replied, "If that will help, I'll sleep in the barn too!"
