I was a bit of a nerd
In high school I was a science nerd and into amateur radio and electronics. My friend's older sister told me she had a problem with her hifi (it was the 60s) and asked if I could take a look at it on Saturday. I went over on Saturday afternoon and was surprised to find that she was the only one home. She said her brother had to go out suddenly. We went up to her room and she played a record and it was very noisy. It was even worse when you lifted the tone arm of the record. I quickly diagnosed the problem as corrosion on the tone arm mount. I took off the cartridge and cleaned all the corrosion off, put it back on and played a record with no noise at all. When I turned around to tell her it was fixed, I discovered that whilst I was taking the cartridge off she was taking off all her clothes. I really was a nerd not to have noticed her earlier. Needless to say my education became very advanced the rest of the afternoon.
