Growing up as a sexual being seems to encompass many experiences that cannot at the time be placed in the proper context...Experimenting with my new found sexuality after my initial Boy Scout camp masturbation exposure was an adventure into previously uncharted waters. As I thought about the experience with Bob in the woods at camp, I was taken back to several brief, though sensual moments that I had previously experienced, but had not been able to place into any appropriate context. Growing up during the 1960's in my large Midwest metropolitan area, all of the local three-story red brick high schools had indoor swimming pools that were open for swimming on the weekends. For reasons that still puzzle me, the pools were only open for gender-specific swimming sessions that were probably 2-3 hours in length and the men and boys were all required to swim in the nude! I know that the girls were allowed to wear bathing suits since my sister always wore hers along with a rubber bathing cap. Anyway, as a prepubescent boy I really didn't have a problem swimming naked and actually enjoyed being able to go to the pool to cool off and learn to swim. My "sensual" memories of this time, however, involved the belly-churning feelings that I got when I would hold onto the side of the pool and let the water jets that were used to circulate the pool water shoot its high-powered stream of bubbling water onto my genitals and through my legs. Although it never occurred to me at the time that this sensation that hardened my penis and made me feel "tingly" good in my gut was indeed a form of masturbation, I was more than aware, however, that I had to stay in the water until my boner shriveled back to a nub before I would get out of the pool. Even today, I can only recall these memories as fond steps that boys take as they explore sex, masturbation and intimacy.
