Here's another inspirational story I wanted to summarize and share. Nadia Bokody, a sex writer and sex therapist is a role model of mine and so many women and so I wanted to spend a moment to share her fascinating story.
She turned her sex "addiction", her endless quest for orgasms, into something positive and something she could spend full time on making a living. I put addiction in quotes because there is really no such thing, just one person judging another who have different needs and priorities.
Nevertheless...
She is a sex therapist and sex coach but when she's not helping others she is masturbating herself and reviewing sex toys.
Divorced at 30, "mostly due to our very different sexual needs". She believes that "It's not natural to have sex with the same person over and over again,' she said." "Marriage is for Idiots".
She then spent years having frequent sex, sometimes sex or seven times a day, with multiple men she dated. It was a constant search for orgasms and exhausting. Although she had enjoyed "the most amazing orgasms", she was left unfulfilled somehow, always falling just short of what she needed.
This need, this love of orgasms, was a challange to her career at the time and made it difficult to establish meaningful relationships. She thought it was completely normal though having that much sex until she began comparing with a few girlfriends and asking around. Her "addiction" was not to sex but to men she discovered. She depended too much on others for her orgasms.
So she embraced masturbation and loved it, "It put me in control, in the driver's seat, where I could have the most intense orgasms as often as I needed as I needed. She decided to make that her calling and the rest is history. She is now mostly monogomous, still enjoying intercourse with a boyfriend and is able to masturbate much of her time while writing, helping others, and reviewing sex toys. She is also a sex educator and believes strongly that masturbation should be taught in school and encouraged.
