Aside from the self-help books, which were rather clinical how-to manuals, some other books were very important in my masturbatory life for their turn-on fodder. I read a bunch of the Jean Auel books like Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Horses, and the Mammoth Hunters when I was 14-15. These were the books about a prehistoric couple and the lives of prehistoric people. The sex scenes were described in explicit detail, and I read many of them over and over again. There were a lot of scenes with cunnilingus, which were a treat for me to read. I was with a boyfriend at the time who wouldn't give me oral, even though I gave it to him. Those books were great masturbation inspiration. I also liked Anais Nin's Delta of Venus and Little Birds, which I discovered at 16. These stories are actually billed as erotica, whereas Auel's books are more like hisorical fiction with a bunch of sex scenes thrown in. It's possible to open and read some Auel without intention to masturbate. But when I opened Nin, I was certain that a finger session was in the works. At 18, a boyfriend bought me a copy of Nancy Friday's My Secret Garden, which was a compilation of women's sexual fantasies that the author got when she solicited them for her book. This book whipped me up into a masturbation frenzy. The only way to describe what happened was that I went on a masturbation bender the weekend I read that book. It was just reading and fingering my clitoris to orgasm constantly, and I can't remember coming up for air. My favorite stories from that book were the lesbian ones. My boyfriend, of course, wanted to hear about the book's effect on me and which stories I liked the best. This was the same boyfriend I gave my first masturbation show to, and from him, I discovered that I liked to be watched while doing it.
