Masturbation as the path to Nirvana

by Stormy I am a Taoist Priest living in Northwest Florida. We Taoists are not forbidden from having sex of any kind, but we do have guidelines we should observe. The post from Ray about orgasm without ejaculation only briefly covers taoist sexuality, but essentially the goal of every taoist male is to learn how to have an orgasm without spilling his seed (except of course for procreative purposes). The technique that Ray describes is a highly effective one and one that will conserve the sperm and do everything that he says it will. If I were to add anything to his suggestion it would be instead of relying on just your finger to press against the perineum (the area between the base of the scrotum and the anus) rhythmically, clench and flex the anal sphincter also. This will give more power to the locking that you are doing by pressing against the perineum and help redirect the sexual energy (or Jing Chi) in a direction other than out the end of your penis. It is a technique that, while challenging and sometimes time consuming to learn, can ultimately lead to enlightenment and the state of being known as Nirvana. I have been practicing Taoist Tantra for more than five years and it has simply transformed my life, body, mind, and soul. I have had experiences in masturbation that could only be described as communing with the Divine. The key lies in taking conscious control over your body and its processes during the stages of erection and orgasm. I would like to share some rather basic techniques for gaining more direct control over your orgasm, and thereby show you the means by which it can be expanded and given greater depth, breadth, and height. Mind you, these are not "quick fixes" or shortcuts, they can take many months to learn. But they are worth ten times their weight in gold. The Taoist "Valley Orgasm" Part 1: Begin your masturbation session in your usual way, but try to become aware of your breathing. Breathe at an even pace, not too slow, not too fast, but comfortably. Try to breathe all the way down into your diaphragm (when you are breathing correctly your shoulders and chest will not move at all, only your stomach will move). As the orgasmic threshold approaches, return your attention to your breathing and try to maintain the same relaxed in/out pattern throughout your orgasm, paying careful attention that you do not hold your breath as you ejaculate. You should strive to breathe correctly while masturbating all the time. The Chi follows the mind and the breath. If you wish to control the Chi, you must logically learn to control the mind and breath first. Pleasure yourself in this way for three days. Part 2: When you have sufficiently learned to keep your breathing even and stopped holding your breath during ejaculation, you should begin working with the next exercises. Your goal is to strengthen the pubococcygial (or p.c.) muscle and the anal sphincter so that you can use these muscles to redirect your orgasm up to your brain instead of allowing it to shoot out the end of your penis. The first technique is "stopping the stream". When you urinate, try to stop and start the flow of urine three to nine times. The muscle you use to stop yourself from urinating is the pubococcyceus, or p.c. muscle. Over time and with practice you can gain such command over this muscle that you can simply tighten it and prevent yourself from expelling your semen during orgasm. You can also practice flexing and relaxing this muscle at any time during the day, while sitting at your computer, while driving, or at any time at all. Flex and relax nine times and gradually work your way up to 36 times. After a week or two you will notice a significant improvement in your control of and the strength of this muscle. Part 3: When you are able to maintain an even in/out pattern of breath and you have strengthened your p.c. and anal sphincter, you are ready for step three. As you masturbate make yourself aware of all of the sensations you feel in your body, especially in your genital area. When you begin to feel your orgasm approaching, slow down your self-stimulation a bit and turn your mind exclusively to the feelings in your groin. Your goal is to use your breath and p.c. and anal muscles to draw the energy away from your penis and into the rest of your body. When you first begin to feel that familiar feeling, slow down (or stop) stroking, breathe correctly, flex and release the p.c. and anal sphincter, and on your in-breath try to draw the feelings in your groin up your spine, to the top of your head (it will be very difficult at first, but it becomes second nature with practice). You will feel a warm tingling all the way up your spine when you do this correctly, and your erection will soften slightly. In metaphysical terms, you are drawing the very hot Chi that you are building in your penis and testicles up into the higher centers of your brain. It is this "transformed Chi" that can ultimately lead you to enlightenment. When you draw your Chi up in this way, you will not explode in ejaculatory orgasm as quickly (and eventually at all) and the orgasmic feelings will get stronger and stronger each time you slow down and draw the energy up, adding and compounding the pleasure onto each successive peak until you eventually melt in one incredible, reality-altering, whole body orgasm that will show you all the secrets of the universe and the Tao.
