Interested in your thoughts
In my past posts I have mentioned that my wife and I workout at our local health club – I occasionally have had the pleasure of showering with her in the same private closed stall in the family locker room and even wrote about a memorable time I had with her a few years back (see Health Club).
Growing up, in high school, I played on many sports teams. I wasn’t the best, but good enough to make the teams. After practice and games there would be about 15 -20 of my fellow teammates all showering together. The shower were communal, basically 15 showerheads against a wall, no stalls, no curtains, just 15 naked guys washing up before the bus came to take us home. So, I have seen most of my fellow classmates who played sports naked at one time or another. I thought nothing of it. My only issue was that I started puberty VERY, VERY late. So, when I was 15 (a sophomore) I was just hoping to catch up to the guys who were 17 or 18 (seniors). Eventually I did make it to adulthood.
After I workout or attend an exercise class, I like to take a shower before I go home in the men’s locker room which is similar to my high school. Some of the other guys who work out with me jump in and we shoot the breeze while we clean up. Some days my classes or workouts just happened to coincide with the end of swimming classes that my club would provide. Now I am no prude, I have been on nude beaches, I sleep nude in the summer and have no problem walking around my house naked making coffee before I shower and shave before work.
Here’s my issue. Some of the fathers will take their young sons AND daughters in the locker room and showers. I have NO issue with the boys they bring in, but the girls may be as old as 5 years old. Usually the dads are fully dressed and the girls and their brothers would rinse off in the shower with me. Now I am 6 feet 4 inches tall, so you can imagine where the sight line of a 4 or 5 year old girl is. Being so young, I can sometime feel their stare as I clean up. TRUST me there is no exhibitionist in me or that this excites me but I sometimes feel that I may be giving the girls a little too much “exposure” at this point in their lives. Up to now I have had no issues with any of the dads and there is a note saying that girls over 5 should not be allowed in the locker room. So I believe the dads know what could happen in the room.
So I ask you; am I overthinking this?
