My wife and I don't masturbate with our daughter, but we openly discuss it and we don't hide the fact that we both masturbate. When my daughter started masturbating we told her that was normal and natural but something that was private. She is almost 14 and still enjoys rubbing herself while watching TV in the living room, but she is discreet and does it under a blanket or pillow. She doesn't think we know what she's doing and we don't say anything.

She has walked in on me masturbating many times and while I didn't "finish" in front of her I didn't stop either. I wanted her to see that there is no shame in pleasuring oneself and I politely asked her to give me some privacy.

We aren't a nudist family, but we do walk around naked at times. All of us are comfortable seeing each other naked. There is nothing "dirty" about the human body, sex, or masturbation.

She is so lucky to have open and progressive parents such as you. I grew up in a very prudish and sexually repressive family. Any sexual discussion and nudity was avoided and masturbation was greatly frowned upon. Being the fact that I loved masturbating, I grew up with a very unhealthy attitude towards masturbation and had to deal with a lot of guilt and shame because of it. I never really got over the shame and guilt until well into adulthood. Thankfully, your daughter won't have to grow up with the same shame and guilt because there are parents out there like you that teach their children that sex, nudity and masturbation are normal and natural!!!
