I watched a movie on netflix yesterday called Don Jon about a dude that preferred looking at porn and jacking off over "regular" sex. While it portrayed masturbation and looking at porn as something every guy does, the conclusion it seemed was once you found the right person, you would need to do it. Has anyone seen it? what other movies address masturbation and/or looking at porn have you seen?

Not a film, but there is a scene early in the first season of American Horror Story, where the lead male character jerks off in the bathroom. Again, the scene I think was supposed to make him look pathetic or sad because he and his wife weren't having sex.

Not a whole lot of male masturbation-positive portrayals in film, outside of gay porn. Female masturbation scenes in film are relatively common, and don't usually carry the same stigma.

This is something that really interests me too. I dont think any of those movies actually show a penis onscreen. The penis is still seldom shown even in this day and age. Ya I saw Don Jon. I wasn't very good. Mostly just an advertisement for one of the big porn companies. The story was pretty dull and lacked any sense of drama. filip78 is right though. Masturbation in movies when its a guy is looked on as comedy or a pathetic act of desperation and when its a girl its seen as liberating and sexy. Even in Don Jon it was like that and the movie was advertising porn. So the double standard is just total bullshit.
