How to, or can you, send private message to a member?

Am new here and probably haven't understood something. Would like to send private message to a member here, like one can on other sites. Can I ? Thank you.

Go to the home page and from there select My Account > Mailbox > Compose

I'm not sure if the restriction for the sendee to be your friend is still there. You'll have to try it.
