I don't know whether my story is unusual, but I did not start masturbating until I was between the ages of 24 and 25 years, and I was then actually a 1st year student in a bible college. I had grown up in a country town as an only child. My mother was socially inhibited and so we did not mix in the community, although my father was a complete introvert and an outstanding athelete. I was the cause of a 'shotgun' wedding between two totally incompatible people. I had no contact with religion or any other community group and never ever talked to a female my own age during my school years. As a child my male friends and I used to romp in the nude but I was never aware of any masturbation among my friends.

I left home after finishing school to go and work in the capital city of our state. After 2 years I joined a church and for the first time had contact with females my own age, but was still sexually innocent.I cannot explain how it took me so long to 'discover' my genitals? I knew that the church frowned on masturbation, but was not even aware of what masturbation was. I am not entirely certain about what actually prompted me to commence masturbating, but I know that once tasting the pleasures of masturbation I have never ceased to enjoy the experience. The only difficulty has been that my religious wife does not approve, and so I have had to become a 'secret' masturbator.

I am have found that of 2 ladies I have emailed, one recalls having commenced masturbating at about 4-5 yrs old, and the other 8 yrs old! Can anyone explain to me why it took 24/25 years to discover the pleasure? --Jonathon
