Comments on Friends Status Updates

When a friend writes on their profile in the form of a status update, the only way to respond to what they write is in the form of an email or a separate comment on their profile. It would be great if, in addition to the LIKE and Report options on these updates, there was a comment option (even if it was limited to friends).
